XI Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia

On April 23, the 11th Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia, scheduled to take place in Kazan, opened. However, due to quarantine measures, it was decided to hold the congress online. Over the years, the congress has become an excellent platform for scientists and specialists in oncology and related sciences to exchange experiences. Over 7,000 participants attended the congress.

At the opening ceremony, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko read a congratulatory letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin to congress participants.

The Presidium of the Association of Directors of Oncology and Radiology Centers and Institutes of the CIS and Eurasia established a medal named after the world-renowned oncologist and surgeon, Academician Nikolai Trapeznikov, who headed the Russian Scientific Cancer Center for many years. The medal will be awarded to scientists and specialists who have achieved outstanding results in the prevention, treatment, and scientific research of cancer worldwide.

The Association's Presidium unanimously decided to award the first Academician Nikolay Trapeznikov Medal to Academician Jamil Azizovich Aliyev, Director General of the National Oncology Center of Azerbaijan. Congress participants welcomed this decision.

Academician Jamil Aliyev expressed his deep gratitude to the Association's leadership and all congress participants for their high appreciation of his work.

On the first day of the congress, presentations were made by experts from various countries. A report on the organization and achievements of oncology services in Azerbaijan was met with great interest. Congress participants will hear approximately 10 presentations and over 30 abstracts from Azerbaijani oncologists.

Professor Aziz Jamilievich Aliyev, Deputy Director General of the National Oncology Center of Azerbaijan, was elected Chairman of the "Head and Neck Tumors" section. He presented a paper entitled "Modern Methods of Treating Head and Neck Tumors," which you can read here.
