Preventive medical examinations for oncological diseases were conducted in the southern region

At the initiative of the National Oncology Center (NOC) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the support of the Regional Development Public Association (RDPA) of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, preventive medical examinations were conducted in the southern region of Azerbaijan in accordance with the population screening program.

On November 17, mobile teams of doctors from the National Oncology Center began mobile mammography, ultrasound, and X-ray screenings to facilitate the early detection and prevention of cancer. In accordance with the screening program, the NOC teams initially conducted medical examinations for approximately 3,000 patients on November 17-18 in Bilasuvar, November 19-20 in Astara, and November 21-22 in Lankaran.

On November 22, staff from the National Oncology Center performed surgeries on patients diagnosed with cancer at the Lankaran City Central Hospital.

As part of the screening program, a scientific and practical conference on "A Modern Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Malignant Tumors" was held on November 23 at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Lankaran, jointly organized by the Regional Development Public Association and the National Oncology Center.

At the conference, physicians and specialists from the National Oncology Center presented papers on "Modern Surgical Treatment of Head and Neck Tumors," "Endonasal Endoscopic Approach to the Treatment of Sinonasal and Intracranial Tumors," "A Modern Approach to the Treatment of Cervical Cancer," "Extraction of Peritoneal Tumors by Main Vessel Resection," "Pediatric Endoscopy at the National Oncology Center," "Breast Cancer Epidemiology, Risk Factors, and Diagnosis," "Early Diagnosis of Pediatric Cancer," "Modern Diagnosis and Treatment in Oncourology," and "A New Trend in Oncological Diagnosis and Treatment: Nuclear Medicine." Oncologists, gynecologists, endocrinologists, urologists, and surgeons from the southern region of the country and neighboring districts participated in the conference.

In the future, screening programs are planned to be implemented in other regions of Azerbaijan through a joint effort between the Regional Development Public Association and the National Oncology Center.
